John Choi serves as County Attorney of Ramsey County, Minnesota. In 2011, he was sworn in as the first Korean-American chief prosecutor in the nation. Since taking office, John has become a state and national leader on justice reform, working with public officials and impacted communities to reimagine justice and the role of prosecutors. John’s innovative approach to working collaboratively with system and community partners has transformed state drug laws and reinvesting savings into community-based solutions, mitigating collateral consequences, facilitating sealing the records of those who have successfully rehabilitated, better responding to youth cases, and reducing reliance on non-public safety traffic stops which has greatly decreased the percentage of stops and racial disparities.
